In 2023, the total number of cars in China reached 360 million. According to the latest regulations, the scrapping standard for private cars is set at a limit of 600,000 kilometers or 15 years, with authorities having the right to enforce mandatory scrapping.

As of the end of 2023, the number of scrapped cars continues to increase. In 2023, the theoretical number of old cars scrapped in China has approached 20 million. Based on the general four directions for scrapped cars:

According to the flow of scrapped cars, out of the 20 million scrapped cars each year, 65% to 68% (approximately 13 million cars) are recycled and scrapped. Generally, most cars are equipped with 8 to 12 airbags. For estimation purposes, each main airbag (driver and passenger sides) weighs 300g, each of the four front and rear passenger side SRS airbags weighs 200g, and each of the main dual side large SRS airbags weighs 400g.
